Plan your perfect Thailand holiday around the seasons — understand the weather, festivals, and best months for every destination.
Thailand has a tropical climate with three main seasons — the cool season, hot season, and rainy/monsoon season. The good news: Thailand is a year-round destination, but choosing the right time to visit can make a significant difference to your experience.
The peak season (November to February) offers the best weather across most of Thailand, while the shoulder season still delivers excellent value. Our experts will match your travel dates to the ideal destination and experience.
The best time to visit Thailand — comfortable temperatures (20–32°C), low humidity, clear skies, and calm seas. Peak tourist season with slightly higher prices. Ideal for beaches, sightseeing, and outdoor activities across all regions.
Best for: All destinations. Especially beach holidays and trekking.
Temperatures rise to 35–40°C, especially in Bangkok and inland areas. Songkran (Thai New Year water festival) in April is one of Thailand's biggest celebrations. Some beaches remain pleasant. This is the best time for Koh Samui (it has its own dry season).
Best for: Koh Samui, Gulf coast beaches, and Songkran festival.
Monsoon brings heavy rains (especially August–September) with lush landscapes and lower prices. Not ideal for Andaman beaches (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi). But Koh Samui and the Gulf coast remain good. Great for Chiang Mai jungle trekking.
Best for: Budget travel, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui (Nov is best there).
